A scrummy brunch time snack that's nutrient rich and easy to make.

Avocado and Seedy Toast

  • Slice of sourdough bread

  • Few slices of avocado

  • Freshly-squeezed lemon juice

  • Pomegranate seeds

  • Pumpkin seeds

  • Sunflower seeds

Toast a slice of sourdough bread, try not to burn it though. Mash up a few slices of avocado with some fresh lemon juice, then spread on the toast. Sprinkle on top some pomegranate seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.

  • Sourdough bread: Baking this type of bread involves a long process of fermentation. Fermented foods are rich in ‘good’ bacteria, which fortify the gut microbiome and help to support your immune system. A healthy balanced gut bacterium is necessary for lowering inflammation, processing toxins and reducing toxin exposure to a developing foetus

  • Avocado: This is a healthy form of fat, rich in vitamins and minerals. You want to have 'good' fats in your diet as they provide the necessary precursors for healthy hormone levels needed for optimal fertility

  • Lemon juice: Rich in vitamin C, which in men assists in the prevention of sperm agglutination (clumping together)

  • Pomegranate seeds: Rich in antioxidants, vitamins including Folate (vitamin B9) and minerals

  • Pumpkin seeds: Rich in Zinc, which helps to improve sperm motility and quality

  • Sunflower seeds: Rich in Folate, which helps to increase progesterone levels, as well as reduce the risk of anovulation and birth defects
