How to bring out your inner child

Do you ever find you sometimes just want to break free of your normal routine and be a bit mischievous? You’re tired of being told what to do all the time? You want to channel that naughty inner child in you and have some fun.

The truth is sometimes we all just need to be a little bit naughty and childish, otherwise we can find our bodies go into self-sabotaging mode as a result of built up feelings of having to always be good and conform to the norm.

This is especially true when you are working to create the best environment for your baby to develop from, as it can sometimes feel really restricting. You are doing all the right things, following all the rules, and sometimes you just want to scream and rebel. While we are highly motivated to do these things and have a very loving intention, there is still that rebellious part that lives in all of us that wants to be heard.

CATER TO YOUR INNER CHILD

Make up your own naughty nourishment list and from time-to- time check-in and do something naughty, childish and fun. Here are some examples:

Pillow fight: Have a pillow fight with your partner

Commando: Go braless or knicker free for the day. Best not to do this when it’s chilly!

Jump on the bed: Jump on the bed to your favourite song

Sex: Have sex somewhere other than the bedroom, try a sex position you haven’t tried before or dress up and role-play

Snow: Have a snowball fight, make snow angels or go sledging

Express lane: Go through the basket lane at the grocery store with more than the designated number of items

Dance: Spend the evening dancing in the kitchen and singing along to your favourite tunes

Pranks: Prank call a friend or put a plastic spider on your partners side of the bed

Water fight: Have a water fight with your partner or friends

Midnight feast: Watch a movie with your partner or girl friends and have a midnight feast

Puddles: Put your welly boots on and jump in the puddles

Breakfast in bed: Put your feet up and enjoy having your breakfast in bed. You can clear up any crumbs later

Autumn leaves: Have a walk in the woods with your partner and throw/kick the autumn leaves

Bubbles: Blow bubbles through your thumb and index finger using washing up liquid
